ABOUT THE JOURNAL

The Indian Journal of Home Science is UGC reconized, CARE listed, an open access peer-reviewed, Journal that publishes high quality original research articles from various fields of Home Science (Family and Community Sciences). It is an official publication of The Home Science Association of India. Henceforth it is published as e-journal twice in a year with one issue in January and the other in July. The Journal aims to serve as common platform for all the Home Scientists to share their scholarly research papers.

CALL FOR THE PAPERS

Original research papers are invited from scholars from various fields of Home Science (Family and Community Sciences) to be published in the forth coming ‘The Indian Journal of Home Science which is an open access, peer reviewed, e-journal published twice in a year. The Journal is published only in English language. At least one of the authors should be life member of The Home Science Association of India. The submission is to be done ONLY though web site to the Editor. The Indian Journal of Home Science will invite research papers ONLY in the months of February and March as well in August and September. Kindly upload papers ONLY during the stipulated time in word file. The guidelines for the contributors must strictly be followed.

E–JOURNAL GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS - 2023

1. The Journal accepts research papers only. Concept papers are regretted.
2. Length: Minimum 3000 - Maximum 4000 length of words from the beginning of the title on the title page, including abstract, paper, till the end of references.
3. Language and Programme: The manuscript should be only in English, prepared in MS WORD Programme only. The file should be sent in “ .docx ” format PDF will not be accepted.
4. Page set up: A-4 size paper, Margins 2.54cm (1”) at top, 2.54cm at the bottom, 2.54cm at the right, and 3cm at the left; Single column format.
5. Font Style: Times New Roman
6. Title Page : The Title page must contain the following:

• Title: All Capital and centred. Times New Roman, 14point font.
• Author’s name (or names): 12point font, centrally placed and bold; 1.15 line spaced. The main author’s name should lead the list in case of more than one author; superscript 1,2,3, etc at the end of authors’ names for the identification of their designation, affiliation information to be provided below the names.
• Designation and affiliation of author(s):Identified by corresponding superscripted numbers; full name of the Department, Institution, University and Place.
• Address:Postal as well as email address.
• Contact details : email address and phone  number  of ALL the authors.  
• HSAI membership number of the authors.

7. HSAI life membership Number: At least one author’s HSAI membership Number should be provided. Write the number of other authors as well, if they have.
8. Abstract: Maximum 300 words single paragraph, single spaced, 11 point font. No Subtitles in abstract.
9. 9. Key words: 3-5 key words alphabetically arranged.
10. Paper:Begin paper from the next page with title with specifications described above. Do not write author’s information.

10.1.  Text: The research paper should contain the following:

• Introduction- incorporating review, justification/ significance of the study;
• Objectives- clearly stated objectives/ aim of the study;
• Hypothesis- assumption, delimitation, limitation (whichever is applicable);
• Methodology- detailed methods and materials applied, research design, sampling, tool, data collection, statistics applied (if applicable),
• Findings and Discussion- detailed results and discussion with tables, graphs and figures along with appropriate interpretation;
• Summary, Conclusion and Implications, suggestions for future research;
• References- alphabetically arranged references in the prescribed standard format APA 7.

10.2.  Specifications:

• 15 spaced, 11 point font, fully justified. Single column.
• Indent the first line of each paragraph.
• One line (single space) gap between consecutive paragraphs.
• Heads centralized, all in capital, 12point font size.
• Heads and sub-heads levels should be easily distinguishable.
• Subheads-bold, only first letter capital, flushed with the left margin, 11point font.
• Paragraph title-flushed with left margin, underlined, 11point font.

11. Tables and Figures: 

• The tables and figures should appear in the text at the place where they are described/ interpreted and discussed. 
• All tables and figures should be referred as Table-1 and Fig.-1 in the text. Table title should be given above the table and figure title should be given below the figures in Title Case.
• Tables, graphs, figures should be within the specified margins of the page.
• Photographs should be in jpg. and resolution 300dpi.

12. References:

• All references should be cited in the text in parentheses by authors surname followed by year of publication. Superscripted numbers can be given only for webliography.
• All the cited references should be listed ALPHABETICALLY at the end of the paper with bullets.
• Each reference should provide complete information about author(s) name, year, and title of the book underlined /article in journal (in italics), name of the journal (underlined), publisher, and place of publication, volume and issue in case of journals. Follow APA 7 style manual for details.

 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO THE AUTHORS:

1. A Consent form: Available on website needs to be filled in , signed by the authors and scanned copy must be sent to the editor
2. A Declaration form: Available on website needs to be filled, signed and scanned copy to be sent to the editor.
3. Plagiarism Report: Make sure that ‘similarity Index’ of submitted manuscript is below 10 % as per the policy of the HSAI following UGC guidelines. Otherwise the paper will be declared as ‘plagiarized’ immediately after establishing that it violates the policy. Send the appropriate certificate of plagiarism checked along with manuscript.
4. The Consent form, Declaration form, and Plagiarism report should be sent along with the paper in one email only, but as different attachments.
5. Send articles only after a very careful language correction and proofreading.
6. The editorial board reserves the right to decide for the publication of the article.
7. NO COMMUNICATION REGARDING NOT PUBLISHING THE ARTICLE WILL BE ENTERTAINED.
8. The papers must be submitted from 1^st of February till 30^th of March and 1^st of August to 30^th of September only.
9. The acceptance/ rejection/correction in the paper shall be communicated ONLY after Blind Peer Review process is completed.

Papers must be submitted in word file ONLY . The file should be sent in “ .docx ” format ONLY
